Guest lecture by prof. Dr. Ignacio J. Diaz Maroto at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Banja Luka
At the University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Forestry, presentation for employees and students gave prof. Dr. Ignacio J. Diaz Maroto from Spain, University of Santiago de Comopostela.
The topic of the lecture was „Study of the natural regeneration in Quercus robur L. stands in Galicia (NW Spain) by Computer Aided Design (CAD) and digital photography“.
After the lecture, Professor Ignacio J. Diaz Maroto answered questions about the research he presented, as well as opportunities for future cooperation on activities of common interest.
The lectures were held within the ERASMUS + international exchange program.

Guest lecture by Maja Srndović Radosavljević, a doctoral student at the University of Padua
Maja Srndović Radosavljević, a doctoral student at the University of Padua, gave a guest lecture for students and teachers of the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Banja Luka, on the topic „What after graduating from the Faculty?“ Opportunity for career development in the forestry sector. “
The lecture was held on June 2, 2021, and a large number of students of the Faculty of Forestry with their presence showed great interest in this useful and very important topic.
Maja Srndović Radosavljević is a doctoral student at the University of Padua, where she researches the process of timber trade in the countries of the Western Balkans. After almost 10 years of work in the public forestry sector in Serbia, since the fall of 2020 she is a scholarship holder of the University of Padua, in the doctoral program Land, Environment, Resource and Health, which is considered one of the best doctoral programs in Europe in natural resources middle. In 2012, she completed a master’s degree program in forestry policy and economics, FOPER, funded by the European Forestry Institute. She started her career in the Forest Administration, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Republic of Serbia. She has been employed for 7 years in the PE Srbijasume, where she worked as the head of the department for planning and analysis, head of the director’s office, executive director of the sector for strategic planning, advisor to the director of the company. Since 2019, she has been engaged as a consultant for Fea – a regional organization, on regional projects in the field of forestry and environmental protection.

Guest lectures – PhD Mihal Marek, Czech Globe Insitute, Czech Republic
The Faculty of Forestry in Banja Luka hosted on December 7-8, 2021, PhD Mihal Marek, the head of one of the most prestigious and largest institutes in Europe and the world in the field of forestry and climate change – CzechGlobe Institute based in Brno, Czech Republic. The institute employs over 200 scientists with the title of doctor of science, over 400 workers are engaged in research, and the research stations of the institute are located in several European countries, including neighboring Serbia and Croatia, and Asia, Africa and Central America.
Professor Michal Marek paid a two-day visit to Banja Luka on December 7 and 8, 2021. During the first day of the visit, Professor Marek met with the management of our Faculty when the Cooperation Agreement was signed, he gave the presentation about the Institute and research conducted at the Czech Globe Institute and presented possible models of cooperation between the two institutions.
Professor Marek gave lectures for second, third and fourth year students of the Faculty of Forestry on „Climate Smart Forestry“ where he spoke about the latest achievements in research in the field of forestry and climate change at the CzechGlobe Institute.
Guest lectures – PhD Monika Konnert, Bavarian Office for Forestry seed and plant breeding (ASP)
PhD Monika Konnert, Director Bavarian Office for Forestry seed and plant breeding (ASP) Teisendorf, Bavaria, Germany, paid a three-day working visit to the University of Banja Luka from 22 to 24 April 2015.
On the first day of his stay in Banja Luka, April 22, 2015. Dr. Konert visited the Faculty of Forestry, University of Banja Luka, where she met with the management, teachers and associates of the Faculty, after which she gave a lecture to students on forestry genetics, based on experiences and research results conducted at the institute in Bavaria. The lecture covers two topics: „Dynamics of genetic changes in time and space“ and „Genetic variability of significant tree species in southern Germany determined through isoenzymes and DNA markers; implications for sustainable forest management in the light of climate change “. The students listened with great attention, which is considered to be a top world-renowned researcher in the field of forest genetics, with more than 150 papers published in international reference journals. Thanks to PhD Konnert, the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Banja Luka has an extremely fruitful international cooperation with the Bavarian Office for Forestry seed and plant breeding (ASP), with which an agreement on educational and scientific exchange was signed in 2013. Among other things, on the basis of this contract, two doctoral students from the Faculty of Forestry were given the opportunity to conduct research at this institute, for the purpose of obtaining a doctorate in forestry.

Guest lectures – Dragan Kovačević – Head of the Department for the Protection of Natural Heritage at the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage
In the realization of the teaching process on the subject of Forest Genetic Resources, second year students had the opportunity to listen to Dragan Kovačević, B.Sc. eng. forestry, on the topic: „Protected areas in the function of conservation of forest genetic resources“.
Colleague Dragan Kovačević from the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage brought his practical experiences, gained through many years of work, in a great way to the students. The parallels that my colleague Kovačević drew between the text of the textbook and the concretization of the procedures for the conservation of genetic resources in practice (interwoven with concrete examples) were great and useful to students. Thanks to my colleague Kovačević for bringing science and practice closer to the students through his lectures.

Guest lectures – Željka Stojčić – Senior Expert for Nature Protection at the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology
In the realization of the teaching process on the subject of Forest Genetic Resources, second year students had the opportunity to listen to Željka Stojičić, B.Sc. eng. forestry, on the topic: „Management of forest genetic resources through nature protection policies.“ Senior expert for nature protection in the Ministry of spatial planning, construction and ecology, colleague Željka Stojičić presented to our students in the activities of the Ministry in the field of nature protection, laws and bylaws in this field, with special emphasis on the complexity of harmonizing interests and parties in the procedures for declaring protected areas. It was a great opportunity for our students to get quality information on current topics in the field of nature protection, and global and domestic trends. This is one in a series of lectures, through the teaching process in which our students have the opportunity to listen to the best in the field of science-practice-politics.
