Department of forest growth

The Department of Forestry has been actively working since 2009, although its gradual development began after the establishment of the Faculty of Forestry in Banja Luka (1992). The Department consists of two teachers, one of whom is an associate professor and the other an assistant professor.

Наставна дјелатност катедре остварује се у сва три циклуса студија. У саставу катедре налазе се 4 предмета на првом циклусу студија (Еколошке основе гајења шума, Гајење шума 1, Шумске мелиорације и Гајење шума посебне намјене), 3 предмета на другом циклусу студија (Шума и климатске промјене, Планирање узгојних мјера у газдовању шумама и Пројектовање шумско-узгојних радова) и на трећем циклусу 4 предмета (Динамика шумских састојина, Системи газдовања шумама, Природи блиско гајење шума и Гајење главних типова шума).

The scientific research and professional work of the Department includes: research of ecological factors influencing forest cultivation, ecological monitoring, research in special purpose forests and protected natural areas, forest reclamation, natural forest regeneration, forest care, forest-breeding analysis and recommendations, project development for artificial reforestation, development of forest-breeding plans and projects, etc.

Classes take place through lectures, exercises and fieldwork. Field classes are made possible through cooperation with JPS „Forests of Republika Srpska“, National Parks „Kozara“ and „Sutjeska“, as well as Industrial Plantations. In recent years, international cooperation has intensified as a result of signed bilateral agreements with forestry faculties in Belgrade, Ljubljana, Skopje and Sofia, and especially with related departments that link the focus on natural forest cultivation within ex-departmental meetings.
